Frequently Asked Questions

How far will you deliver?
We deliver to all of Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.

How much space is required for delivery?
The amount of space required is minimal. For a 20′ storage container, you will need approximately 75 feet of straight clearance. For a 40′ container, you will need approximately 100 feet of straight clearance. The width requirement is approximately 10 feet.

How is the container delivered?
We deliver our units using a tilt-bed truck and/or tilt-bed trailer. With the trailer raised, the container slides off the trailer resting on one end. Then, the truck/trailer will need to pull straight out from under the container.

Is there any site preparation necessary?
The only thing you need to worry about is that the surface is fairly level, smooth, and firm. We can deliver on dirt as long as it is not too soft. We can also deliver on cement, pavement, asphalt, gravel or grass.

What size containers do you offer?
We typically offer two sizes of storage containers. Our standard 20 foot storage container is the largest container that can be moved when loaded. Our standard 40 foot storage containers cannot be moved when loaded so are appropriate only for larger, on-site needs. 20 foot containers can be stored at your site or ours.

How long will delivery take from the time of order?
Normal delivery time can be as quick as two to five days. If you need something sooner, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

What type of payment is required upon delivery?
We collect the first month’s rent, plus delivery and pickup fees. We accept personal or business checks, cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

How is my lock protected?
All of our storage containers come equipped with a steel lock box welded to the outside of the unit. The lock box conceals and protects your lock from being tampered with.

Are the containers weatherproof?
We water-test all of our storage containers before they leave our delivery yard to be sure they do not leak. The containers are completely enclosed and will keep wind and rain and snow out so your contents stay dry and secure.

What kinds of things are not allowed in portable storage containers?
Drain gasoline and oil from your lawn mower, chain saw, weed eater, and any other equipment that runs on gas. Disconnect batteries from any equipment.
Do not pack your propane tank for your gas grill.

Do not pack any hazardous, noxious, odorous, waste, toxic, explosive, illegal, stolen, poisonous, flammable acidic, contaminated, unsanitary or danger material in the container. This includes, but is not limited to, gasoline, oil, propane, paint, varnish, paint thinner, insect and rodent poisons, liquid bleach, toxic cleaning products, aerosol cans, fire arms or ammunition or waste. In addition, do not store perishable foods, food in glass jars, live plants, pets or matches. We do not recommend loading candles, tapes or photos if you are storing over the summer.
We strongly discourage packing large screen televisions.

What if my container needs repair?
Portable Storage of MN will maintain the unit throughout the term of the rental period. If you need maintenance, simply give us a call and we will come out promptly. Regular maintenance repairs are free of charge.

What color are the containers?
The containers are painted a neutral color to blend in with most surroundings.
